COLLABORATIVE MACHINE
EXPERIMENTAL HUMAN INTERACTION
2014
How can we interact through movement? A kinetic interactive exhibit, in which two participates share a unique moment of interaction by using a “hypnotizing” machine. In this project, I explored both Human-Machine Interaction and interaction between two people through movement and hands-on experience. To activate the machine, one person becomes the creator and receives the opportunity to control the show, deciding the speed and direction of spirals, while the other person gets to enjoy a show entirely dedicated to him. Because it is manually operated, the machine produces a new, slightly different, show each time.

The spirals and the experience were inspired by circus shows and fairs, in which you can often find human interactions using optical illusions. Through the spirals, I studied the effect of motion and mechanisms on the visuals produced and on the viewer. The project has taught me a lot about the cycle of consequences and human behavior and reactions.

Spiral variations, I chose the double-layer, two colors spiral to increase the number of shows the machine generates
